Old Goa (Goa): Goa police have arrested a 27-year-old man for raping 8-year-old girl at St Cruz village, near here.

Old Goa police have arrested  Nanu Atchalal Bharadwaj   for raping an eight year old minor girl.

Police stated that the complaint of a rape was lodged by mother of the minor girl claiming that the incident happened at around 3 p.m. today (Saturday).

As per the complaint, the girl was playing in the backyard of her house when accused took her into bushes and raped her.

The girl was found in the bushes in a state of trauma by her mother. The victim identified the rapist following which the police complaint was lodged.

The accused was hiding in the nearby bushes after the incident, who was traced by the locals and then handed over to the police.

Accused has been booked  under section 376 of Indian Penal Code, relevant sections of Goa Children’s Act and POSCO Act.
