Gunwanti Paraste (PUNE): In a tragic incident, six people lost lives while seven others were injured when the vehicle they were traveling in collided with a water tanker near Wagholi on the evening of Sunday. All the victims are residents of Pune, and were returning from a relative’s wedding ceremony in Ahmednagar.
The accident took place around 7.30 pm at Lonikand village on the Pune-Ahmednagar highway. The driver of the tanker lost balance and crossed over the divider and hit the mini bus head on.
The six people who died on the spot in the bus, have been identified as Vaibhav Mane (27) of Mahalunge, Mahesh Vasant Pawar (28) of Saswad, Nikhil Jadhav (26) of Bhosari, Akshay Dabhade (28) of Sangvi and Vishal Chavan (29) of Viman Nagr and Nupur Shah (26) of Warje.
Those injured are Suresh Gaikwad (40), Ranjit Nikam (29), Sharad Sandane (29), Ganesh Shinde (29) all residents of Baner, Sumit More (38) of Mahalunge, Ayush Ghehlot (26) of Warje and Vilas Birajdar (27) of Balewadi.
The injured are undergoing treatment at IMAX hospital and Lifeline hospital in Wagholi.
