PUNE: A 20-year-old student of mechanical engineering allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself to a ceiling fan in Lohegaon on Fridaymorning. The deceased has been identified as Kiran Sawant who was studying in MIT college at Lohegaon. According to information given by police, on Friday morning Kiran was supposed to go for his lectures but he told his friends that he will be coming late. At around 11.30 am when Kiran’s friend reached at his hostel room to check why he did not turn up, they found that Kiran’s door is locked from inside. Later they discovered Kiran hanging from the ceiling fan. “From Kiran’s friend we came to know that he had failed in his first-year exams. We are investigating if there are other reasons for suicide,” said assistant police inspector Mahesh Togarwad, who is investigating the case.
