Curchorem (Goa): Several graves were damaged at Guardian Angel Cemetery in Curchorem last night. The incident has come as a shocker for police force who have been specifically told to keep a strict vigil against such activities.

Police Inspector Shivram Vaigankar confirmed that several graves were damaged by unknown miscreants. This is second time that Curchorem has witnessed such incident in last one week.

“The CCTV camera which was installed at the gate of the cemetery was also found broken,” he said.

Goa had witnessed at instances of at least nine Holy Crosses and a temple being desecrated since July 01 after which the police presence in several areas of South Goa was heightened.

Vaingankar said one of the local had seen a man running out of cemetery at around 4.30 a.m. “We are working on various leads,” he said.
