SANGUEM (GOA): A Portuguese era children’s park at Sanguem is in urgent need for repairs and renovation. The lack of attention towards the maintenance has led to the bad condition of the park.

Adv. Amar Naik, member of Yuvasena, a youth organisation, said that he had written a letter to the concerned authorities of the Goa government to seek their attention but there was no response from them. He further said that, as there was no response from the Goa government, he wrote an application to Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), after which, the PMO sent a letter directing the Goa government for the renovation of the park. “After PMO’s letter, the concerned authorities woke up from their slumber,” said Naik.

Naik also disclosed that there are certain people in the area who do not want the park to be renovated for their selfish motives. “The parents of the children are being misguided about the park, and afear is being created in the minds of the parents, saying that, if the park is renovated then the children will get involved in malpractices such as drugs,” said Naik
