GOA: MONSOON SESSION TO PASS THE STATE BUDGET FROM JULY 18

Panaji (GOA): Total 1596 questions have been received till date for the upcoming 15-day long monsoon session of the State Legislative Assembly, beginning from July 18.

The first meeting of the Press Advisory Committee chaired by Speaker of the State Legislative Assembly Dr Pramod Sawant held on Thursdayafternoon. During the meeting, various issues concerning the media covering the Assembly sessions were discussed.

Addressing the member, Sawant said that total 1596 questions- 590 starred and 1006 unstarred questions- have been received till July 12.

“The passing of State Budget 2017-18 is the main agenda,” he said. The State’s financial statement was presented on the Floor of the House in March.

On July 17, the elections to elect the new President of India would be held. All the 38 elected representatives will cast their vote.

The session, which would conclude on August 7, will also witness election for the lone Rajya Sabha set on July 21 and for Vice President of India onAugust 5.

The session is expected to witness healthy discussion on the ongoing desecration of religious structures and burglaries and thefts in South Goa, wherein the Government is likely to find itself at the backfoot as the police have failed to get any lead in these cases.
