PANAJI (GOA): The congested river Mandovi has another offshore casino vessel added to the existing fleet of five.

MV Lucky Seven, promoted by Golden Globe Hotel Private Limited (GGHPL), a firm owned by Haryana’s controversial former minister, Gopal Kanda, has entered river Mandovi but could not reach its designated spot off Campal due to unfavourable weather conditions.

The vessel, docked at Mormugao Port Trust (MPT), was towed towards Mandovi but had to be stopped off Cabo Raj Niwas. It is likely to be towed to Campal this afternoon, subject to the weather as Goa is witnessing continues showers since past over 48 hours.

The Goa bench of Bombay High Court allowed the sixth casino vessel as rescue vessel, following a petition by the promoters in the court. The Captain of Ports had submitted to the court, granting it permission and allocated the position for mooring off Campal.

CoP also asked the owner of the vessel that trained sailors should be on board, engine of the vessel should be in running condition and the vessel should have three fully loaded tugs. So also, the exercise shall be carried out on the owners risk and on directions and supervision of the Captain of Ports.
