PUNE: A truck driver was brutally assaulted and robbed by two unidentified persons who had come on a two wheeler in the wee hours of Thursday.
A case was filed by truck driver Vivek Dongre who stays in Chakan. A case under section 394 (voluntarily causing hurt in committing robbery) of the Indian penal code has been lodged at Hinjewadi police station against the two accused persons.
As per the complaint filed by Dongre, the incident took place near Pashan, on the Pune Banglore highway. The truck was heading towards Mumbai. Dongre told police that two suspects asked him to stop his truck. As he stopped the truck, the accused, armed with sharp weapons, started assaulting him and robbed his cash of Rs 17,500 and a mobile phone.
The complainant works for a logistics company in Akurdi. The complainant suffered several injuries during the scuffle with the accused. Police inspector R Unde of Hinjewadi police station is investigating the case.
