Panaji (Goa): In one of the biggest drug haul this year, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) seized 14.318 kgs of ganja from the alleged possession of four persons including a juvenile, in a raid at Mala. The seizure is worth Rs 7.15 lakh, NCB Superintendent Jitendra Ranjan said.

“During the search of Damodar Niwas, Mala link Road, Mala four persons including Subhash Mali, Ranjit Singh, Taruj Kumar Pallo, all from Odisha and a juvenile (Jharkhand native) were caught. The juvenile is lodged at Apna Ghar while the remaining three are sent to judicial custody in Colvale Jail,” the officer said. All were working in Goa as helper or labourer.

The NCB claims the case as a huge crackdown in drug syndicate considering the quantity of the seizure. “NCB is trying to go in depth to find out other persons involved in this criminal conspiracy. Presence of huge quantity gives a clear indication that now a day’s Ganja is becoming popular in the streets of Goa,” he said.
