PUNE: A 21-year-old Nepali student of Symbiosis College in Viman Nagar allegedly committed suicide on Thursday night.
The deceased has been identified as Rahul Anil Agarwal, who was a third year BBA student and lived with his friends in a row house at Konark Nagar society in Viman Nagar.
As per information given by Vimantal police station, the incident came to light at around 9 pm. Rahul had locked himself in the room and didn’t open even after repeated pleadings from his roommates. When they broke open the door, they found him hanging and informed police. The body was handed over to his relatives after post mortem on Friday.
Police said that the reason behind his extreme step is not known as no suicide note was found, and cops are yet to get details from his iPhone which is locked.
“Rahul was studying in third year. The college faculty and director have informed me that they had not seen any sign of depression or anything that troubled Rahul in curriculum in his first two years. We had asked few of his friends if they had found any odd behavior in him, but it went in vain. However, reason of suicide has not been confirmed yet. Police are investigating the matter,” said Vidya Yeravdekar, principal director of Symbiosis society.
