Pune: On the occasion of fourth death anniversary of the murder of Dr Narendra Dabholkar, Maharashtra Andhashradha Nirmulan Samiti (MANS) will ask MPs, MLAs and MLCs why the accused mentioned in the charge sheet of Dabholkar murder case are not arrested yet under the drive ‘Javab Do’ to be held from July 20 to August 20.

Avinash Patil, executive president, MANS, Maharashtra, said, “On 20th August, four years will be completed to the murder of Dr Dabholkar. But accused and organisatiosns whose names are mentioned in the charge sheet of the murder case are not arrested yet. We don’t think police are incapable of arresting the accused. It is lack of political will that is the reason why the accused are not arrested yet.”

Sarang Akolkar and Vinay Pawar who are named in charge sheet were never arrested. Only Virendra Tawade is in jail. And no action has been taken against any member of Sanatan Sanstha name of organisation has been mentioned in the charge sheet.

He added, “We have been met chief ministers, ministers asking them why accused are not arrested yet but we are promised that they will be arrested. Now it has four years to the murder. Hence we decided to launch this drive called Javab Do. Members of MANS of respective districts will meet local MPs, MLAs and MLCs asking them why the accused are not arrested yet. We will meet them from July 20 to August 20.

Chief Minister has no time to meet MANS delegation

MANS members also said that Devendra Fadnavis, chief minister, has no time to meet them. Patil, said, “We have sent ten letters to CM office and i acknowledgment for the same asking appointment of CM. We want to bring many issues from the delay in arrest of accused in Dr Dabholkar murder, to effective implementation of recently implemented Social Boycott (Prevention, Prohibition, and Redressal) Act, 2016, and other issues.”

He added, “I had met CM in the last Assembly session in Nagpur, Mumbai. I had also met him in one private function. All the time, CM promised me that he would give appointment. However we are not being able to get his appointment.”
