PUNE: Six persons were arrested by the Airport police for allegedly assaulting a youth near 509 Chowk in Viman Nagar on Sunday night.
The arrested accused have been identified as Raju lakka Rathod, Ram Rathod, Tejas Rathod, Hanumant Rathod, Devendra Rathod and Raju Shankar Rathod.
According to information given by assistant police inspector MR Khokle of Airport police station, the complainant Nagesh Gaikwad was driving his car, heading towards Barmashell, when the incident took place.
“While passing from 509 Chowk, the complainant saw a parked vehicle and slowed down. One of the accused who was standing near the parked vehicle tapped on Gaikwad’s car. Gaikwad then stepped out of the car to check what happened. The accused then started abusing Gaikwad for driving in rash manner. This led to an altercation, and Gaikwad was beaten up by the six persons. Later, Gaikwad was admitted to a hospital,” said PI Khokle.
Police said that there was past enmity between the complainant and the accused which led to the scuffle. Khokle is further investigating the case.
