MAH: CONGRESS LEADER BOOKED FRO ALLEGED RAPE AND ASSAULT

PUNE: Officials of the Vishrambaug police, on Monday night, booked Congress leader Rohit Tilak(38) for allegedly raping and assaulting a woman. Police has also levied charges of unnatural sex against Tilak based on the victim’s complaint to the police.
As per the complaint filed by the 41-year-old victim, she has been separated from her husband and came in touch with the accused two years ago while handling a case. The complainant, who is a lawyer, told police that she was raped multiple times on the pretext of marrying her. The complainant was in touch with Tilak and had asked him to marry her, following which she was assaulted by Tilak.
In a press note issued by the complainant, she stated that she met Tilak in 2015. The complainant had earlier reported to Mariyai gate police chowki when she was assaulted. Based on the complaint, police booked Tilak under rape, unnatural offences, voluntarily causing hurt, insult with an intent to provoke breach of peace and criminal intimidation under the Indian Penal Code .
Rohit Tilak could not be contacted for comments. Assistant police inspector V Shinde of Vishrambaug police is further investigating the case.
