PANAJI (Goa): The heavy rains in the coastal region have resulted in an unusually high tide which has once again washed ashore unusual amount of debris and garbage especially along the Miramar beach.
In a bid to improve the cleanliness on Goa’s beaches, Drishti Lifesaving has taken immediate action, and has deployed 246 employees to clear the garbage strewn along the coastal belt of Goa.
From December 2016 till July 13 2017, the agency has collected 5,50,970 kgs of garbage which was then transported for disposal to the waste management plant at Saligao.
Due to incessant rains the beach cleaning will continue throughout the day.
