VINAY TENDULKAR IS RAJYA SABHA MP FROM GOA

Porvorim (Goa) BJP State unit president Vinay Tendulkar today won the election of Rajya Sabha seat defeating Congress candidate Shantaram Naik.
Tendulkar who is also state chief of BJP defeated h Naik in a straight fight. While Tendulkar polled 22 votes, Naik had support of 16 legislators.
The BJP leader was supported by all the coalition partners in Manohar Parrikar led government including Goa Forward Party, MGP and Independents.
Congress candidate Naik, who is also a sitting MP, was banking on the support from the like-minded parties. All the Congress legislators voted for their candidate as against the recently held Presidential election which saw the party legislators cross voting.
