PUNE: The Pune police have arrested a 29-year-old man for allegedly filming nude videos of a woman, and then raping her and extorting Rs 15 lakh from her. The arrested accused has been identified as one Ajay Ramnaresh Tripathi, a native of Uttar Pradesh.
Earlier, the woman’s estranged husband and this man had installed cameras in her house to record her videos, police said.
Police have seized his phone where nude photos and videos of the complainant were stored. The accused also had a licensed revolver which he has sold to another person, police said.
After massive search operation, he was detained by a team of Warje Malwadi police station in Tundala in Firozabad district of Uttar Pradesh on July 24. “On Thursday he was produced before a magistrate court which remanded him to police custody till August 2. Further investigations are going on”, said senior police inspector Bajirao Mole , in-charge of Warje-Malwadi police station.
The FIR in this regard was lodged by a 31-year-old woman on April 26, 2016, against her husband, his second wife and Tripathi. The incident took place between 2014 and April 2016. Her husband is currently out on anticipatory bail, while his second wife is on the run.
According to the FIR, the woman’s husband and Tripathi had fixed camera and had snapped her nude photographs. Tripathi had also recorded the video of the couple having sex. Later, Tripathi threatened that he will upload the photos and videos on internet and blackmailed the complainant and extorted Rs 15.8 lakh from her, time to time. He had also threatened to throw acid on the face of the complainant and had kept physical relations by blackmailing her. The arrested accused had also recorded video of him having sex with the complainant. He had also got a stamp paper notarized, stating that Tripathi and the complainant are married. The accused had taken her to a lodge in Agra and had raped her there.
The woman told police that Tripathi is friend of her husband against whom she had lodged a case of harassment. “My husband, his second wife and Tripathi are defaming me and they are giving mental trouble by blackmailing me. The accused has also threatened to harm my sister who lives in Uttar Pradesh and he is asking for Rs 25 lakh”, the woman told police.
