Panaji (Goa) Congress party is pulling all its stops to convince former Corporation of City of Panaji Mayor Ashok Naik as their candidate from Panaji constituency.
Sources confirmed that Naik who was once a prominent leader of BJP has been drifting away from the saffron party. Now he is likely to join Congress and contest the crucial by-election.
Naik has been known for his simplicity and has been garnering good wishes amongst cross section of people.
Congress is also trying to convince other parties like Goa Suraksha Manch to support the candidature of Naik.
