STATE APPROACHES CENTRE GOVT TO SORT OUT CABLE NETWORK CRISI

Panaji (GOA) Goa Government has approached the Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting with a complaint about the disrupting cable service provided to consumers in State for last two months due to the suspension of network by multi service operator from Hubli, BRDS.
Union Ministry is the Authority of initiate action in terms of the Cable Television Networks (Regulations) Act, 1995.
Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar told House that Department of Information and Publicity has taken up the matter with Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) about the cable network crisis in Goa.
“There were complaints from consumers regarding disruption of the cable service for last many days. The North Collector held meeting with the cable operators in the State and tried to sort out the issue,” he said.
Parrikar said that it is apparent that the defaulter Company/ Multisystem operator operating from Hubli, Karnataka has violated most of the norms/regulations laid by the TRAI.
“The TRAI had last month directed M/s.Bhima Reddi Digital Services (BRDS) who is the multisystem Operator to submit the comments within 15 days of receipt of the said directions,” he said.
