PORVORIM (GOA): Officials of Goa Badminton Association met CM Manohar Parrikar at the Secretariat complex, Porvorim to brief him about the Sub-Junior All India Badminton Ranking Championship which is scheduled to be held from October 8 to 15, 2017 at Multipurpose Hall, Margao.
Parrikar was apprised of the few security issues which could arise as the championship clashes with the FIFA World Cup and the players who will converge from all parts of India could face difficulties during their participation, especially while travelling to the stadium when the World Cup games are held.
The CM has assured the Association full support and cooperation by the government, to ensure that the shuttlers do not face any difficulties, and asked them to go ahead with their planning.
The GBA delegation comprised of secretary Sandeep Heble and former state badminton players Vaman Fallary and Cancio Mascarenhas.
This is the first time in its history that Goa will host an All India Ranking championship in sub-junior category. More than 1000 participants are expected to participate in this championship.
