Panaji (GOA)Congress candidate Girish Chodanksr has requested his opponent Manohar Parrikar to resign as Goa Chief Minister and Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament and contest as common man on BJP ticket in order to have a level playing field during the upcoming Panjim by-election. “I am fighting the election as a common man. But Parrikar is contesting as Chief Minister and Member of Parliament. This means he is more powerful with support from State and Central government. I am not that powerful,” Chodankar told reporters on Saturday. “Hence this is my sincere request to Parrikar that he should resign as CM and MP and fight election as a common man,” he added. “This will ensure a level playing field in the by election,” Chodankar commented. Chodankar said that he has already started his door-to-door campaign and is receiving good response. The panjim by-elections are scheduled on August 23.
