Panaji (GOA) Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar should apologise to the people of Panaji for fooling them through his election manifestos, Congress President Shantaram Naik demanded.
Speaking to reporters in presence of MLAs, Naik said that Parrikar has neglected the Panaji assembly constituency for last 22-23 years.
He said that Parrikar, rather than placing new manifesto, should have released the post mortem report of his last five election manifestos to justify why people of Panaji should vote him again.
“He neglected the constituency for last 22-23 years completely. He fooled the people. Parrikar should apologise to the people of Panaji for failing to fulfil the promises made in every election manifesto he released,” Naik said.
The Congress party is confident about its victory from Panaji, where it has fielded AICC secretary Girish Chodankar.
“There is no doubt that we are going to win both the seats- Panaji and Valpoi. Parrikar has already become so nervous looking at the support Congress candidate is getting,” Naik said.
Panaji will be going for by-polls along with Valpoi on August 23. The constituency is been ruled by Parrikar since 1994. He resigned as MLA in November 2014 after he was elevated as Union Defence Minister.
