The revolt within the Congress party is likely to spur in Goa, with one of its senior leader demanding sacking of State Party president Luizinho Faleiro, holding him accountable for party’s failure to form the government, despite emerging as single largest party.
In a press statement issued on Monday, the Congress general secretary Trajano D’Mello, has demanded that the Congress President should either step down or should be sacked being accountable for party’s failure to form government.
“As long as he continues as President, it will be difficult for the Congress to come back to power,” he said.
D’Mello alleged that Party President’s deficit of trust with Goa Forward leader Vijay Sardessai, restrained the party from going for pre-poll alliance with them.
“Digvijay Singhji’s assertion that there was a deficit of trust with the state leadership of the Congress party is a polite way of saying that the State leadership was in sync with the BJP leadership,” he said reacting to Singh’s recent statements on tweeter.
D’Mello said that he had on January 26th written to Faleiro, before the polling pleading with him to, come to an understanding with Goa Forward and support the three candidates i.e. Fatorda, Saligao and Siolim, where Congress lost it badly.
Goa Forward is currently coalition partners in the BJP led government.
