GOA: FAKE NEWS AGAIN, THIS TIME TARGETTING BABUSH MONSERRATTE ON PRUDENT MEDIA

Panaji (Goa) The fake news has hit again. This time targeting Babush Monserratte and that too on Prudent Media channel.
The snapshot of the twitter account run by local cable channel has been circulated in the social media which quotes Goa Forward Party leader Atanasio Monserratte appealing people not to vote for Parrikar during August 23 Panaji by election.
“Babush (Monserratte) appeals citizens not to vote for Parrikar as he was threatened to join Goa Forward Party,” reads the news, which has been widely circulated through social media.
The local cable channel was quick to clarify that “this snapshot circulated in social media is not from Prudent Media; our logo and brand has been misused. Kindly note.”
Monserratte has filed complaint with Cyber Crime Cell of Goa Police seeking “immediate action and investigation in the matter on top priority and book the culprits and charge them with the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.”
The leader in his complaint before Cyber Crime cell has said that some unknown people have used his name and released false and malicious news about him in the social media such as Facebook and Whatsapp.
“This is causing grave damage to me and my party namely Goa Forward party. This is also causing hindrance in the conduct of the free and fair polls as it seeks to mislead the voters of Panaji constituency which is going to the poll on August 23,” the complaint mentions.
