Pune: The Film & Television Institute of India (FTII) has conducted an offbeat 2-day workshop based on the concepts of holistic education. It was attended by over 60 students of the new 2017 batch. The objective of the workshop was to empower the participants to focus on what was important to them and at the same time to create and nurture relationships.
The one-of-a-kind workshop covered basic aspects of communication – Listening and Speaking. Integrity which is the basis of workability and performance, self-awareness, self esteem issues, emotional intelligence, dealing with human emotions like fear and anger, reaction Vs response were some of the topics covered in the intensive workshop.
There were a lot of exercises in the interactive workshop as the students went through a process of self-discovery becoming aware of their own human design.
Thinking out of the box, taking responsibility, enhancing their creativity and appreciation and acceptance of diverse and multiple viewpoints for creating a space of freedom were some of the other areas addressed.
The workshop was based on the UNESCO premise that advocates for the 21st Century, 4 pillars of education of which two are largely ignored by educational institutions.
FTII took it upon itself to go beyond the customary 2 pillars which are, learning to know and learning to do and conduct a workshop for the new 2017 batch based on the other 2 pillars which are, learning to be and learning to be with other people.
The workshop was led by FTII alumnus Arunaraje Patil, National Award winning filmmaker and motivational speaker. Patil has been involved in holistic and transformative education for almost 20 years at different levels.
