SHACK OPERATORS NOT TO LOSE BUSINESS THIS TOURIST SEASON; GRANTING OF LICENSES TO BEGIN NEXT WEEK

Panaji (Goa): The allotment of beach shack licenses is expected to commence before the onset of the tourism season with the State government committed for a full season business in 2017-18  season.

Tourism Minister Manohar Ajgaonkar today assured the beach shack operators in Goa of an expeditious process for allotment of shacks for the season 2017-18 as it is scheduled to begin from September 4 to September 20.

He also complimented the new Director  for Tourism Menino D’Souza and  his team  for initiating  the process  from next week for  allotment  of  shacks in a time  bound  manner for the new  tourism season.

In a statement issued here the minister said, “I have directed the Department of Tourism to complete the entire shack allotment process in time before the tourism season commences.   The department will ensure that shack operators comply with all the requisite documents and formalities so that the shack operations commence in a smooth manner.”

He has also appealed the beach shack operators to comply with all environmental requirements so that cleanliness and hygiene is maintained on the beaches, and directed not to violate any rules or regulations and to conduct business in an authorized manner.
