Case filed against minister Azgaonkar

A criminal case has been filed against Tourism Minister Babu Azgaonkar in a court in Pune, for a controversial statement made by him during a press conference on April 3, 2017, where he said that the people from the Lamani community must be thrown out of Goa.

A case has been registered against the minister under the IPC section 153-A(1)(A), 153-A(1)(B), 153-B(1)(A), 153-B(1)(B), 153-B(1)(C), 295-A, 499, 500, 504, 505(2).

The case is filed by one Ramesh Khemu Rathod who is an advocate, practicing in District and Sessions Court, Shivajinagar Pune. In the application filed by adv. Rathod, he has mentioned that such statement made regarding the society is not only against the constitution but it has a tendency to create rift among the society, and can increase enmity, vengeance and malafide emotion which will create prejudice to the National unity.

The criminal case is numbered 134/2017 and the hearing will take place on April 29.

The proceedings of this case will be handled by adv. Rathod, adv. Ganesh Pawar and adv. Pradeep Pawar.
