Dona Paula (Goa) A fisherman drowned while another was rescued and the third one is still missing when a fishing boat capsized near Raj Bhavan, Miramar today.
The Dirshti Lifesaving Services, that provides lifeguards services across the beaches of Goa, informed that at around 10:10 am, a fishing boat which was 500 meters out at sea capsized near Raj Bhavan, Miramar. A local fisherman approached the on-duty Drishti lifeguard Balkrishna Ambedkar and informed him about the incident.
Immediately, the lifeguard informed the Miramar tower about the incident and a jet ski was instantly directed to the incident spot. “The lifeguard noticed the capsized boat as well as a fisherman on another boat waving for help. The lifeguards approached the boat waving for help and noticed the first victim in the boat was unconscious. The victim’s vitals were checked and found missing. The lifeguards commenced CPR immediately however the victim was not responsive. The body of the victim was brought back to the shore and handed over to the requisitioned 108 ambulance at the Dona Paula Jetty,” the press statement issued a while ago said.
Meanwhile, another jet ski radioed from the Miramar tower and informed the lifeguards that another fisherman from the capsized boat was rescued by a neighbouring boat. The third fisherman is still reported missing.
