Panaji (Goa): Tourism Minister Manohar Ajgaonkar is expected to chair a high level meeting with MLAs and Sarpanchas of coastal village panchayats tomorrow to discuss tourism infrastructure development plans.
A day ahead of the meeting, he said thay Goa Tourism is committed on developing coastal areas in the State which will boost tourism and attract tourists to enjoy the beaches and coastal areas by avail of facilities and quality tourism infrastructure. “Tourism infrastructure development projects such as providing public conveniences namely toilets, changing rooms, locker facilities, adequate parking, beautification, illumination etc are many of the components envisaged in the plans,” he further said.
This meeting comes in the wake of the sanction of Central Financial Assistance of Rs 100 crore under the Swadesh Darshan Scheme for coastal circuit development.
Ajgaonkar had assured that he would take all village panchayats into confidence while drawing up project plans for coastal circuit development, after Goa received second allotment of the amount under the central scheme.
Ajgaonkar has expressed confidence that the MLAs and Village panchayat Sarpanchas will co-operate and contribute in the discussions on Monday and strengthen Goa Tourism’s plans of augmenting tourism infrastructure in the State of Goa.
He is also proposing to impress upon the coastal belt public representatives to remain more vigilant on the drug menace and will seek their co-operation in eradicating the same.
