Porvorim (Goa)  After Vidarbha Cricket Association, the Goa Cricket Association (GCA) became the second cricketing body in the country to adopt a resolution to consider and approve its proposed new constitution as per the recommendations of the Lodha Committee.

The GCA at its Special General Body meeting held today in Porvorim near here the resolution was adopted with 86 against one vote. One member cricket club had opposed the resolution.

“The special general body meeting of the association was held and agenda was to discuss amendment to Goa Cricket Association act as per the recommendation of Lodha Committee. The resolution was adopted and it would be now placed before the Committee of Administrators (COA),” GCA’s acting president Suraj Lotlikar told reporters today.

He said Vidarbha Cricket Association is the only cricketing body to adopt such a resolution, and Goa becomes the second one to do it.

As per the recommendations of the Lodha Committee, those who have attained the age of 70 years will be ineligible to hold any post in the association. A Minister or a government servant will be also ineligible to hold any post in the association.

The Supreme Court, in July, had directed BCCI and the state cricket associations to implement all the recommendations of the committee within six months.

Lotlikar said that the GCA is expecting that the COA will release the funds now after adopting the resolution accepting Lodha Committee recommendations.

“If COA don’t release the funds, the GCA will  suffer because there are various bills and salaries are to be paid,” he said adding that other cricketing associations are financially sound and can sustain without funding for few years.
