Panaji (Goa) Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar today said that the committee under district collectors will handle the minor cases related to the violation of Coastal Regulation Zone in the State.

Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority (GCZMA) has been handling the cases related to the coastal regulation zone violations.

State Environment department this week has issued the notification about formation of these committees which will also have representatives from different departments.

“There are so many cases pending with the GCZMA. They are not able to handle it,” Parrikar said adding that there is provision within the CRZ rules that the committee headed by District Collectors can be constituted.

“There is a provision that to deal with the normal cases, the district level committee can be formed. This will reduce the load on GCZMA to only serious cases,” he said.

Parrikar said only the minor cases would be handled by the district level committees. “There is a clear demarcation that the small cases would be handled by these committees,” he added.
