CASINOS ASKED TO SHUT OPERATION ON GANDHI JAYANTI

Panaji (GOA) On the occasion of birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the State Government has directed casinos to remain shut on October 2.

The order in this regard has been issued by the Home Department. The casinos are asked to shut operation for 24 hours on October 2.

“In order to pay homage and respect to the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi Government of Goa will observe dry day on October 2,” the order stated.

“In this regard, all the Casino licensees directed by the Department of Home (General) to stop the operation of the Casinos in the State of Goa on October 2, from 12.00 am midnight to 12.00 a.m midnight 24 hours in order to pay homage and respect to the Father of Nation,” the order added.

There are five off shore casinos anchored in River Mandovi while over dozen of land casinos operational in five star hotels across State.
