Panaji (GOA) Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar today assured that 1.71 lakh sq mtrs of land at Bainguinim would be used only for the purpose of setting up solid waste treatment facility.
Parrikar was talking to reporters during the inaugural of waste collection centre at Secretariat-Porvorim.
“I assure that the land would be used exclusively for setting up the waste treatment facility. We will require a land of 1.25 lakh sq mtrs of setting up the plant,” Chief Minister said responding to a question.
He said that a training centre, where locals can be trained on garbage management and treatment, can be also set up at the site.
Parrikar said that government will ensure 2000-3000 Goans get employed at various treatment facilities in next two-three years through proper training. Government has proposed three more waste treatment plants at Bainguinim, Verna and Cacora.
The land was has been in possession of CCP since 2009.
