PANAJI (GOA) Congress party today demanded that Government should immediately hand over the multi-crore beach cleaning scam to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for further probe as recommended by the Goa Lokayukta in its report, last week.

Addressing reporter, Congress general secretary Adv Yatish Naik demanded that government should immediately hand over the case to CBI and initiate action against all the officials of the tourism department as named in the complaint, included then Tourism Minister Dilip Parulekar.

“We demand that government should immediately adopt the report of Lokayukta and act,” he stated.

Congress also wants government to probe as why the Anti Corruption Branch (ACB) had closed the case in the past before the lower court.

The Goa Lokayukta Justice (retired) PK Mishra in his order in the beach cleaning scam has asked the State government to consider handling over the case to CBI and had asked ACB to reopen the investigation.

The complaint was filed by Adv Aries Rodrigues. He had urged the ombudsmen body for registration of a FIR against then Tourism Minister, Manish Mohata owner of Ram Engineering and Construction Company and Bhumika Clean Tech Pvt Ltd, Tourism department officials.
