TRYING TO BRING GLAMOUR & STYLE INTO AGRICULTURE; SAYS MINISTER

Panaji (Goa) With a focus to make agriculture sector appealing to the Goan youths, the State Agriculture Minister Vijay Sardessai proposes sleeves of measures to make the sector remunerating and glamorous.

Minister proposes to introduce various new concepts in the sector like community and contract farming, Agro tourism, floriculture estate, organic farming, micro climate hubs, agro clouds, etc. along with Brand Goa products.

Sardessai was today afternoon addressing the batch of 17 students selected for B.Sc (agr) and allied courses to study at Dr. Balasaheb Sawant Krishi Vidyapeeth, Dapoli.

“It is a fact that agriculture is yet to reach to its optimum acceptance Slowly we are trying to give right impetus to agriculture by enacting new laws,” he said.

I think agriculture will once again become remunerating and appealing to Goan youths, especially from coastal areas and tourism centric areas,” he said.

Minister said that is been felt that agriculture is a profession for old or rural centric and not very stylish. “So I am trying to get glamour and style into it,” he commented.
