Porvorim (Goa) Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar today said that State will earn a reveue of Rs 15 lakh per day once Internatinal airport planned at Mopa in North Goa would be functional.
The Greenfield aiport at Mopa is expected to have its first phase commissioned in the year 2020. GMR Goa International Airport company has already bagged the contract for the facility. GMR Group offered highest revenue sharing ratio of 36.99 per cent to the Goa government.
The chief minister said once the airport is commissioned, the state will earn a revenue of Rs 15 lakh per day for initial days as per the shareholding of 36.99 per cent worked with the company which is operating the airport.
He said that similar amount of Rs 15 lakh per day would be lost by the State, if construction of the facility is delayed.
The state will gain faster the airport is commissioned, he added.
Talking about the rehabilitation of fourteen families of ‘dhangar’ community (tribals) who will be displaced once the airport is constructed, Parrikar said that the State government has approved the rehabilitation package for such families which includes 800 square metres of land and a house.
“The government will also provide community centre and cemetery for these families while common area would also be provided as a grazing ground for them,” he said.
