One arrested for attempting to break open ATM at Porvorim

Porvorim, Goa: Porvorim police have arrested a Maharashtra-based teenager for allegedly trying to break open ATM machine in the area after he was caught red handed on CCTV camera.

The accused has been identified as one Arjun Yadav, a 19-year-old native of Maharashtra, who has been in the state for some time now.

Yadav made an unsuccessful attempt to break open the ATM of a bank at Porvorim. When he could not break it, he fled from there leaving behind partly damaged cover of the ATM, the police said.

The incident had occurred on Thursday midnight and was captured on the CCTV camera installed inside the ATM booth. Using the CCTV footage, Porvorim Police Inspector Paresh Naik and his team, identified and arrested the accused, who was found loitering in their jurisdiction.

According to police, the accused used a hacksaw blade and some tools in order to break open the ATM. However, he only managed to partly remove the outer cover of the machine.

The bank officials noticed the incident and informed police who later identified the accused after sourcing CCTV footage.
