Panaji (Goa): The Office of the Assistant Director of Transport/ Registering and Licensing Authority, North has been temporarily shifted to the Public Work Department building, near Old Patto Bridge, Panaji after it was gutted in fire early Monday morning.
The office has lost a large portion of the documents in the massive fire that erupted from the supermarket located on the ground floor. The office remained shut for two days to finally resume functioning from the alternate office from tomorrow
“The public is informed that the Office of the Assistant Director of Transport/ Registering and Licensing Authority, North has been shifted to Public Work Department building, near Old Patto Bridge, Panaji and same shall be functioning from October 5, 2017. The Office of Assistant Director of Transport (Enforcement) North and Member Secretary, Regional Transport Authority will continue to function from first floor, KTC Terminus, Panaji,” reads a press statement issued by the Directorate of Information & Publicity this evening.
The fire at Kadamba bus terminal has caused a loss of not less than Rs 4 crore also leading to losing crucial vehicle registration and other related documents. The directorate of fire & emergency services has blamed the authorities for not abiding by the fire safety norms considering that not a single office and commercial establishments – barring one canteen on the first floor – had any fire safety equipment in place.
The State government has taken up the project of renovating the RTO office on priority or looking for a permanent office premise at other location.
