GOA: TRANSPORT DEPARTMENT SAYS IT WASN’T THEM BUT LABOURERS WHO DUMPED THE DOCUMENTS

The Directorate of Transport issued a clarification with regards to the safety of their records. Allaying fears of the people, the authorities in a press release stated that -The registration and other records of this office are computerised since 2006 and are maintained in a computerised system. There is a misunderstanding in the minds of the public that records have been destroyed in the fire.

In reply to a news channel flashing news regarding disposal of burnt records, the Directorate of Transport has clarified that it was the labourers who had disposed of the burnt papers at the side of the road unknowingly and the same has been cleared from the side of the road.

The Directorate of Transport reiterated that all the records are safe in a computerised system, and only the manual records have been burnt and the same has been disposed of.

It may be recalled that on October 2, 2017, a fire broke out at a supermarket and the Directorate of Transport office at KTC bus stand, Panaji wherein old manual records books, old registers and old papers were burnt in the fire
