Porvorim (Goa): Lax attitude towards carrying out crucial projects has cost the state run Goa Medical College and Hospital, and the Directorate of Health Services.
The Health Secretary on Friday issued showcause notices to the heads of both the institutions seeking to know why action should not be taken against them.
GMCH Dean Dr Pradeep Naik has been issued show cause for not showing interest and not taking initiative for making necessary preparations for the visit of the consultative committee of Parliament to the hospital on October 14.
The notice stated that the hospital was in a shabby state during the committee’s visit. The has also been asked to submit detailed statement of money spent in the last two years from the allocated financial powers.
In the second show cause notice to Director of Health Services Dr Sanjeev Dalvi on the ‘unreasonable’ delays for finalising of tenders, a reply is sought by October 31.
“It has been observed that various tenders are pending for a very long time in some cases even for more than 2-3 months. Such unreasonable delay hampers the functioning of the department,” the notice issued by Under Secretary, Health stated.
