Calangute (Goa): The Calangute police arrested a Karnataka native for allegedly selling narcotics to tourist on the local beach during the late hours of Saturday.
The accused is named Somnath Perappa Chauhan, aged 20 yrs and a resident of Gadag, Karnataka. PI Jivba Dalvi informed that they had received reliable information about one person posing as a waiter and trying to sell drugs to tourists on Calangute beach. “As such a raiding team was formed and narcotic raid was successfully conducted and the accused person was found in possession of Ganja worth Rs 15,000,” he said.
The accused is placed under arrest under section 20 (b)(ii)(A) of NDPS Act and is presently under police custody.
PI Dalvi informed that they have already tightened the noose over the alleged drug activities which flourish during tourist season and the crack down will continue .
