Panaji (Goa) Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party’s recent outburst against Manohar Parrikar led government is due to the unequal distribution of power within the coalition members. A senior MGP leader Lavu Mamlatdar said that the attempts are being made to curtain the growth of MGP by the BJP.
Mamlatdar was speaking in a chat show Goa@9 on GCTV which is powered by The Neutral View. The MGP leader was clear that the MGP workers are feeling that they are being sidelined by BJP led government specially Manohar Parrikar.
While MGP had played a crucial role in forming Parrikar-led government, they felt let down after that. The former Ponda MLA pointed out that while all the three Goa Forward Party legislators were given ministry, it did not happen with MGP. Moreover, the party is disturbed that their legislator Dipak Pawaskar is given charge of Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation but without any financial powers.
“The Central Committee members say that BJP government is making Dipak Pawaskar another Lavu Mamlatdar,” Mamlatdar said narrating how during the last government he was given Chairmanship of Horticulture Corporation but was never given funds.
He also claimed that one of his file for construction of road in Ponda constituency was made to disappear from the office of former chief minister Laxmikant Parsekar then.
The MGP which fought the elections against BJP still harbours the grudge it had during their association with Parsekar led government. Mamlatdar quoted BJP’s late leader Pramod Mahajan saying “BJP cannot sustain in Goa till MGP is finished.” He feels the attempts are made to ensure that MGP does not grow in the State.
The party is upset over the massive importance given to Goa Forward Party which is comparatively new in the political scenario. “Sudin Dhavalikar is as strong as Vijai Sardesai in the government as both the parties have three legislators each,” he said.
Mamlatdar spoke his mind in the chat show which will be aired on GCTV today at 1 pm., 4 p.m and 6 p.m. It is The Neutral View initiative.
