Old Goa (Goa) Even as the open house museum behind Se Cathedral Church has been protected by Archeological Survey of India, it has not deterred the unruly tourists from using as their make-shift dining place.

Several tourists who flock to see the world heritage monuments at Old Goa have been found using the ancestral stones, which are part of the museum, using to have their lunch.

They are also seen throwing dirty water and remaining food in the premises of the museum causing nuisance for the other visitors. The security guards who are seen moving around were paying blind eye towards this situation.

The board installed by ASI next to these stones clearly warns that anyone who destroys, removes, injures, alters, defaces, imperils or misuses this monument shall be punished with imprisonment which may extend up to two years or with fine up to Rs one lakh or with both.

The monument has been declared to be of national importance under the ancient monuments and archeological sites and remains act 1958.

But the visitors have been blatantly violating all the possible rules at this heritage site.

The Neutral View investigations at this place has revealed that there is no control by State police, ASI or local authorities over the behaviour of the tourists, who were seen photographing themselves in the places where photography is prohibited.

We being the newspaper with Goa’s welfare at heart appeals the State authorities, ASI or at least Church authorities to stop this menace so that the beauty of the place is retained.
