PANANJI (Goa) Minister for department of women and child development Vishwajit Rane today announced  to increase the beneficiary limit for the Griha Adhar scheme from existing 1.52 lakhs.

The scheme is currently under review and government has come across several bogus beneficiaries availing the benefit. Under the scheme an amount of Rs 1500 is given to housewives as monthly financial support.

“I have been getting complaints about applications being pending. We are now contemplating to increase the sanctioned strength limit, which is currently fixed at 1.52 lakhs,” Rane said.

He said that since the upper limit of 1.52 lakhs has been touched, there were no new sanctions. We are now reviewing the scheme.

” I have come across the fact that there are several bogus beneficiaries while many have obtained benefit using fake documents. These names will be deleted,” he said.

There are total 23,000 new applications pending under the scheme.
