Bambolim (Goa): Health minister Vishwajit Rane today announced that the two-wheeler ambulances carrying life saving equipments would be introduced in state’s coastal belt from July month onwards.

As per the decision of health department, the  para-medics will ride these two-wheeler medical ambulances which can reach the accident or casualty spot within the record time.

“All the equipments required to stabilize the patient would be mounted on these two wheelers,” Rane said adding “Twenty two-wheeler ambulances would be procured in July month and they would be pressed in service immediately.”

The two-wheeler ambulance service is already introduced in Karnataka, and Goa would be the second state to do so.

He said these two-wheeler ambulances would be stationed in coastal belt where due to narrow road, at times, there is delay in arrival of ambulances.

“The facilities like oxygen cylinder, injections and others which is required to stabilize the patient would be mounted on these two wheelers so that the immediate medical attention is given to the patient,” he said.

The minister also said that the new ten ambulances (four wheeler) which also would be procured along with the two-wheeler would be fitted with the equipments required to stabilise patients with cardiac arrest.
