CHIEF OF ARMY STAFF FELICITATES PRINCIPALS AND ART TEACHERS

Pune – A felicitation programme was organized by B N Srivastava Foundation on 02 November 17 at Dhanwantri Auditorium, Pune. The event was organized to celebrate the completion of ten years of greeting card activities which involved preparation and distribution of Greeting cards to the Armed Force by the foundation. During the programme Principals and Art teachers from 14 schools and two Art Institutes of Maharashtra were presented awards for excellence and support to the foundation. A running trophy in memory of Field Marsal Sam Manekshaw was also presented to Mrs. Jayshree Venkatraman, Ex-Principal DAV School, Pune for creating a record of sending 7000 greeting cards to Armed Forces. Lieutenant Colonel Ardesir Trophy was presented to Viva Institute of Applied Art Mumbai for excellence in the field of art.

Chief of Army Staff, General Bipin Rawat, UYSM, AVSM, YSM, SM, VSM, ADC, was the chief guest and Lieutenant General Manoj Pande, AVSM, VSM, Chief of Staff Southern Command was Guest of honor. The event was attended by 1100 school children, teachers and principals. During his address, the COAS lauded the foundation for their yeoman service and extended his moral support to the noble initiative of the foundation. He stressed upon the need to educate the society about the honor and dignity that is due to the soldiers and expressed gratitude to the foundation for promoting the same.

B N Srivastava Foundation is a registered nonprofit Trust working in the field of Arts and Culture since 2006 under the banner of ‘Sketchpaintxprs for India’. The Trust motivates students of schools and Arts colleges of India to organize greeting cards/rakhee making workshops during their art classes which are presented to personnel of Armed Forces/Indian Satellite Organisation. It also organizes Camps/Seminars to relieve stress and provide joy to participants. The mission of the organization is to ‘bring a smile and instil confidence in every single citizen of the nation’ irrespective of the caste, creed, religion and wealth by noble means thereby serving the Nation. Late B N Srivastava was a painter of international repute and the foundation was established in his memory by a group eminent painters. His son Shri Vijay Kumar Srivastava is the convener and the force behind this noble scheme.
