Panaji (Goa): Following complaints from the general public and bad reviews from a section of the press, North District Superintendent of Police Chandan Chowdhary has directed the police personnel not to use mobile phones while on field duty. The officer has warned of disciplinary action against the police personnel found violating the order.
“If any police personnel is found using mobile phone while on duty, except for attending to the official call (which also he/she shall do only after moving away from the active duty point) or if found just passing the time by using mobile applications while in uniform, it will be treated as misconduct and will be penalized under Rule 3 (1) of the police subordinate service (discipline and appeal) rules, 1975,” she has said.
The concerned police stations have been asked to read out the circular to the staff during the evening roll call for three consecutive days and displaying it on the Notice Boards.
“All in charges of police stations in north Goa district shall personally randomly check the staff deployed for field duty and make necessary entry in the station diary, as and when such incidents are noticed,” she said.
