Sunaparanta- Centre for Arts will be hosting the screening of film- ‘A Star is Born’ (1954) at Sunaparanta indoor gallery, Altinho, on July 4 at 6.15 pm. 

The screening will be hosted by Arvind Sivakumaran. The movie is directed by George Cukor, starring: Judy Garland, James Mason and Jack Carson. The run-time of the film is 2 hrs 56 mins

About the film:  Before the release of yet another modern version of this classic tale, it would be fitting to revisit the 1954 (and arguably) best version of the film about an alcoholic star who “discovers” a young singer and catapults her to fame even as he descends into self-destruction. The songs in this musical version are a cheerful counterpoint to the otherwise somber critique of Hollywood and success. Garland, Mason and Cukor felt that this was the best film they had ever made in their glittering careers, Cukor even stating that he’d like to be buried with a print of the film.
