Panaji (Goa) The State Department of Tribal Welfare has made Aadhar card mandatory for all the beneficiaries availing benefits under various scheme implemented by the department for the welfare of the community.
Following instructions issued by the Government of India under section (7) of aadhar Act, 2016, all the applicants are requested to seed their Bank account with aadhar number before December 31, 2017.
“It may also be noted that the benefit under the scheme will be credited in bank account of the applicant in which aadhar number has been seeded last,” the department has said.
The department working for the upliftment of the tribal community offers various scheme like Antya Sanskar Sahay Yojana, Prashikshan Yatra, Atal Asara Yojana, Mundkaranche Ghar, scholarships for students for higher education, financial assistance to widows and its children, financial support for those pursuing nursing courses, etc.
The Department of Tribal Welfare performs the statutory and administrative functions relating to protection and empowerment of scheduled tribes in the state. It is also responsible for preparing the Tribal Sub Plan and monitoring of implementation. Implementation and monitoring of Welfare schemes is carried upon by the department which is framed by Government of Goa.
