The Aam Aadmi party today termed the boycott by 34 MLAs belonging to the BJP , Congress and partners, of the special awareness session on Mhadei organised by the speaker , as an act of being irresponsible towards Goa’s interest. AAP Gen Secretary Pradeep Padgaonkar said that the MLA’s are so scared of Parrikar that they are toeing his line to get electoral gains in Karnataka to his BJP party at the cost of Goa’s interest. “ Parrikar has a record of their sins. So they are afraid. What good can anyone expect?” Said Padgaonkar
AAP Convenor Elvis Gomes speaking on a range of issues said that AAP congratulated the taxi operators for maintaining peace during the three days of their strike and asked them to be vigilant since assurances given in the past have never been met as the Government has a history of taking U turns. Speaking on the issue of the demand & opposition for installation of a statue of Jack Sequeira in the Assembly complex, Gomes said that it was yet another attempt to divert attention of people from coal , river nationalisation and failures of the Government in the last one year. Talking extensively on AAP’s surveys about living conditions in Quepem taluka villages as a test case, he said that 23 villages didn’t have toilets . “ The story of Ragi a tribal girl represents the story of all children in her village whose dreams of pursuing education are shattered due to apathy of the Government and particularly the MLA who has been bluffing them since the past 20 years. They have no proper access to safe drinking water, health or basic education facilities and no road to even take the sick to any health facility. The Government will have an ego issue in admitting this reality as their concept of development is only creation of party zones along the coastal Goa to further the business interests of their friends “ voice Gomes
