Calangute (Goa): An attempt to mutder accused was today arrested six days after he absconded from the scene of crime at Calangute.
Calangute police who was on a look out for Ajay Bhike, traced him at Pernem and subsequently placed him under arrest.
“Our team had launched a search operation since April 30. We received confirmed inputs from sources this morning that the accused is in Pernem area. Accordingly I directed the team towards Pernem and successfully arrested him,” PI Jivba Dalvi said.
According to the FIR, Bhike stabbed one Noor Mulla, who is employed as driver of a car owned by Annie D’Souza.
“The complainant (D’souza) informed that victim, employed by her as a driver was allegedly stabbed by Bhike who came in an car near Royal foods, Calangute. The accused was armed with a knife and stabbed Mullah in the abdomen,” the PO had said said adding that they have registered a case under section 307 (attempting to kill) of IPC against Bhike.
Mullah is undergoing treatment at Goa medical college.
Investigation so far revealed that the accused is also involved in three serious crimes at Mapusa police station which are under trial. ” He is a habitual offender,” the officer said.
